چکیده

The polarographic method invented by J. Heyrovsk over 40 years ago has been associated with many successful achievements in many branches of physical and analytical chemistry, particularly in electrochemistry. Following the construction of the polarograph (with the excellent properties of Kuera's dropping mercury electrode incorporated) by Heyrovsk and Shikata, recording the current—voltage curves has become much simplified contributing thereby to the rapid development of the polarographic method. To date over 20 000 papers have been published in this discipline and further applications of the method continue to be investigated. The major practical application of polarographic technique is in analytical chemistry since it makes possible, in a simplified way, the detection and estimation of elements and compounds when present in very small concentrations.

Uric Acid Analysis with Uricase

Results with two ultramicro methods for plasma uric acid analysis with uricase are described: a crystal violet (gentian violet) method, modified from an automated procedure by Gochman and Schmitz [C/in. Chem. 17, 1154 (1971)] and adapted to manual analysis, and a polarographic oxygen-sensing system (Beckman Instruments,Inc.).The coefficientof variation (CV) for the crystal violet method varied ...

POLAROGRAPHIC AND POTENTIOSTATIC REDUCTION OF CARBODIIMIDES: A MECHANISTIC STUDY

The polarographic reduction of aromatic carbodiimides in anhydrous aprotic solvents goes through a carbene intermediate by a diffusion controlled process in two one-electron steps. The first step is the rate-determining step and converts the carbodiirnide to a radical anion (6) that reduces further by a fast one-electron step to a carbene dianion intermediate (7). This abstracts an oxygen, ...

The polarographic determination of thyroxine and 3:5-diiodotyrosine.

Although biological methods are used for assessing the value of thyro-active materials, chemical methods are also available to determine the thyroxine content of such substances. These methods are mainly based on the estimation of iodine as 'thyroxine iodine' (Harington & Randall, 1929; Leland & Foster, 1932; Brand & Kassell, 1939). Polarographic analysis suggests itself as a means of simplifyi...

A Quick and Simple Polarographic Method for Aluminum Measurement in Recombinant Hepatitis B Vaccine

Abstract        Background and Objective: Aluminum salts are among the most common useful additive compounds in preparation of human and animal vaccines. Aluminum phosphate and aluminum hydroxide are two additives that show good immunoadjuvant effects with many antigens. Aluminum-containing vaccines lead to a better and longer immune response compared to adjuv...

Polarographic Study of the Interactions between Thallium and Lead Ions and Some Crown Ethers in 90% Acetonitrile and 90% Ethanol Solutions

The complexation reactions between Tl+ and Pb2+ ions and crown ethers 12-crown-4(12C4), 15-crown-5 (15C5), benzo-15-crown-5 (B15C5), 18-crown-6 (18C6), dicyclohexyl-18-crown-6 (DC18C6) and aza-18-crown-6 (A18C6) were studied in 90% acetonitrile and 90% ethanol solutions at 25 °C, using an a.c. polarographic technique. The stoichiometry and stability of the complexes we...
